Executive Director Brian
R. Foltz founded AYD in 1994 with a team of committed
parents, community leaders and friends. Previously he was
development director for Youth Opportunities Unlimited, a
community liaison in the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department,
and an account supervisor with Krome Communications. He is a
graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BA in
journalism.
Martin W. Brown
is AYD's Education Director, coordinating the program’s academic
and self-control components. He has led AYD's school-based
program for four years, and is author of the lesson plans in the
Self-Control Project. He earned his master's degree in business
administration and management technology from California
University of Pa., and his bachelor's degree in international
finance from Howard University.
Rick Brown
is a nationally known judo coach, instructor, competitor and
Olympic contender. He has coordinated AYD's judo program for
nearly three years. Over the past two years his role at
AYD has been supported by Public Allies, where he graduated from
both the first-year community organizer coursework and
second-year executive track training. He is also a head
instructor at our partner organization, South Hills Judo Club.
Rick has been training judo for most of his adolescent and adult
life, including several years at the U.S. Olympic Training
Center in Colorado.
