The Self-Control Project at AYD launched its pilot phase in September, in collaboration with the "Degrees to Diplomas" program at South Hills Judo Club. Twice a week, 14 participants practiced judo, interspersed with lessons from "Teaching Self-Control,: a nationally acclaimed curriculum. They also receive an hour of academic tutoring and enjoy a hot supper. (Read more...)

Three AYD athletes won four trophies in five divisions May 19 at the Ameri-Kan Open Judo Championship in Lima, Ohio.

AYD judo athletes won five medals and the Outstanding Technique trophy at the Akiya Memorial Judo Tournament May 14 in Cleveland.
